KS2
KS2 Project IdeasThere are so many different projects you could do linked to a space theme. Perhaps you will choose a question that you can research using secondary sources or maybe you will carry out a practical enquiry to learn more about the rockets or parachutes used in space exploration.
If you are stuck for ideas, some of the links below might help you get on the right track. |
The MoonYou could learn about why we observe the phases of the Moon. The STFC have a great booklet all about the Moon called Hands on the Moon to inspire you.
GravityYou could learn about gravity around the Solar System. Perhaps you could make a model to compare the strength of the force of gravity on different planets using cardboard tubes.
MarsYou could learn about the latest missions to Mars that are search for signs of life. Why not learn all about the Exo Mars mission or Mars 2020 that is due to land on the 18th February 2021.
Lunar habitatsYou could design an habitat for humans to live on the Moon or Mars. NASA's Space Place have some ideas about how you could do this and so does ESA Kids. You could even get involved in the Moon Camp Challenge.
TelescopesYou could learn about how telescopes work. The STFC have created some interesting and eye catching posters that might help you with your research; Big telescopes and Herschel Space Observatory.
AstronautsYou could learn about astronauts, how they prepare for a mission and what they do when they are in space. The European Space Agency (ESA) Kids website is a useful source of information or you could find out about NASA astronauts here.
Magnetic fieldsYou could learn about the Earth's magnetic field. The Magnetic Academy website has lots of interesting projects and information to help or why not make your own Magnetometer.
Solar SystemYou could learn about a planet that you are interested in or create a scale model of the Solar System. You could even use these Ogden Trust research cards to explore how ideas about the Solar System have changed over time.
